Developer EDF power solutions North America and developer-operator Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company – Masdar, have entered into 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) for a California, US solar-plus-storage project.
Announced 2 June, the PPAs cover the output of the 128MW solar PV and 40MW/160MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) BigBeau project, which has been operational since December 2022.
On 1 February 2026, BigBeau began delivering electricity to utility Southern California Edison (SCE) under new agreements.
In 2023, Masdar acquired a 50% stake in BigBeau from EDF. The project is part of an 8-project, 1.6GW partnership agreement between Masdar and EDF, which includes five solar projects totalling 689MW and two utility-scale wind farms representing 815MW. All of the projects are operational.
