Nextnova has released some details on the silicon solar cell manufacturing facility it is building outside Oklahoma City. The new brand is a division of Thornova Solar, which first started supplying solar panels to the U.S. market in 2022.
Nextnova will make p-type solar cells in a 450,000-ft2 building formerly operated by Xerox in Yukon, Oklahoma. The company says mass production is expected to begin in Q1 2027 with an initial annual manufacturing capacity of 2 GW. The facility can be expaned to 6 GW. The Oklahoma site will support 300 jobs.

Thornova formed in 2022 as a U.S.-focused arm of China’s Sunova Solar. The company says it currently operates a cell and module production facility in Kenya and has access to 2.5 GW of production capacity in Indonesia. Thornova has also used U.S. OEMs to produce product on American soil.
There were no provided details on where Nextnova cells will be sold and assembled.
